How sides and corners work together

For every flat (2D) shape, the number of sides always equals the number of corners (vertices). A triangle has 3 of each, a square has 4, a hexagon has 6, and so on. Shapes that are the same on both halves when cut are called symmetrical — a circle has an infinite number of lines of symmetry!
