Chemistry for Kids

pH — Acids, Neutral & Bases

The pH scale runs from 0 to 14 and tells us whether a liquid is acidic, neutral, or basic (alkaline). It measures the concentration of hydrogen ions (H+) in a solution.

  • pH < 7 — Acidic (lemon juice, vinegar, stomach acid)
  • pH = 7 — Neutral (pure water)
  • pH > 7 — Basic / Alkaline (baking soda, soap, bleach)
